Marketing - Advertising and Promotions Internship

Job Description:

The selected Advertising and Promotions intern(s) assist the Marketing Department with the development, communication and implementation of promotions and strategic advertising. Intern(s) also assist in market research; media sponsorship, promotional events, exhibit and program launches, sponsorship fulfillment, and special projects as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in developing strategic plans for advertising and promotions to offset projected or actual downturns in general admissions
  • Assists in planning promotional events
  • Research prospective partners that include non-profit organizations, local, and national businesses
  • Market and industry research
  • Assist with all marketing-based aspects of new exhibits, programs and special events, including opening events, consumer promotions, advertising and promotional campaigns, media sponsorships, giveaways, etc.
  • Coordinate and assist in integrated communications for promotional programs with creative services, media relations, digital marketing, and other departments as assigned
  • Assists with day-to-day advertising and promotion duties


  • Must be able to operate within Microsoft Office systems including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Must be energetic, organized, possess strong verbal skills and have sharp attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated, team player but able to work independently, friendly, sense of humor, creative, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.
  • Occasional weekends required.
  • Preference is given to juniors and seniors.
  • Open to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, development or a related field from an accredited college or university.
