Doug Allan is one of the world’s most respected and experienced natural-history documentary cameramen. He specializes in working in polar regions above and below the ice, and with marine mammals all over the world—although his filming assignments have also taken him up Everest, in submarines and to the deserts of Africa. He has worked on over 60 natural history documentaries for the BBC, Discovery, National Geographic, WNET and various others, filming on such series as “The Blue Planet,” “Planet Earth,” “Ocean Giants” and “Frozen Planet.”
With clips of his award-winning footage and behind-the-scenes photographs, Allan’s presentation will offer unique personal insights into the challenges of filming animals in the wildest places on Earth.
Allan’s filmmaking exploits have earned him many accolades, including eight Emmys, four BAFTAs, five Wildscreen Pandas, three honorary doctorates by U.K. universities, an honorary fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society and a fellowship of the New York Explorers Club.
