Whether you choose to modify an existing program or create a new experience, we'll help you customize a tour that is unique to your needs! You can choose the date and time of your program; areas visited in the Aquarium, including behind-the-scenes areas; featured animals or exhibits; animal encounters; expert guest speakers; and more!

The Basics

Ages:
We can create a custom tour for guests of any age; however, some behind-the-scenes areas of the Aquarium are only accessible to guests ages 8 and older.

Time:
You can customize the length of your tour.

Price:
The price of your tour will vary based on the customizations you choose. Our team will help create a program to fit your budget. To find out if a customized program is right for you, contact us at 410-576-8822 or at tours@aqua.org.

Getting Ready for Your Tour

  • Wear close-toed, non-slip shoes (no sandals, flip-flops, Crocs or heels)
  • Check in at our staff entrance when you arrive. It's just around the corner from our main entrance, across from the USS Torsk submarine
  • Come early or stay late—your ticket is good for a full day of Aquarium exploration, but be sure to return to check in at least 15 minutes before your tour
  • You'll be asked to sign a waiver when you get here—save time by bringing a signed copy along
  • For information on discounted parking, please check aqua.org/parking. Bring your ticket to have it validated before leaving the Aquarium
  • When booking your tour, please notify Central Reservations of any guests with special needs

Additional Information

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, including missing your tour due to late arrival. If the Aquarium cancels your program, you'll have the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

To ensure that your tour hasn't been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances such as animal health or inclement weather, please call 410-576-8822 the day of your program for cancellation information.

Can I bring a group?

Yes! We can accommodate most groups for your customized tour. Large groups may have to break into smaller groups for certain behind-the-scenes or animal experiences, but we'll always ensure your group has an amazing time. To make your experience truly engaging, we aim to have one guide per 12 guests.

What does a customized experience cost?

The price of your tour will vary based on the customizations you choose. Our team will help create a program to fit your budget. To find out if a customized program is right for you, contact us at 410-576-8822 or at tours@aqua.org.

When should I book my tour?

We require a minimum of two weeks to plan your customized experience. Custom tours are subject to availability, and we may not be able to accommodate all requests. Reservations cannot be made more than 90 days in advance.

Can my child participate without a parent or guardian?

A parent or guardian must accompany all participants under the age of 16. Minors 16 years of age or older may participate with a signed waiver from a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians accompanying children must be at least 18 years old. For example, a 17-year-old may attend a tour with a signed waiver, but their 10-year-old sibling may not accompany them without an adult.

Will I get to touch any animals?

Not all the animals in the Aquarium are available for guest interaction, but there are several animal touch experiences that are generally available for tours.

What should I wear?

You'll be traveling behind the scenes, so closed-toed, non-slip shoes are required. That means no Crocs, sandals, flip-flops or high heels. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, as you'll be traveling around the Aquarium.

Is admission included with my tour?

For general guests: Admission is included with your purchase—you're free to explore the Aquarium during our regular business hours after your tour!

For members: You're always free to explore the Aquarium, along with your family members who are covered under your membership! You must purchase a discounted guest ticket for any tour guests who are not covered by your membership; with their discounted tickets, your guests are also welcome to explore the Aquarium during our regular business hours after your tour.
