The National Aquarium in Baltimore presents Beyond the Boardwalk, a series of events celebrating ocean life. Join us as the harbor comes alive and discover ways to protect and restore our waterways for the thousands of animals that call them home.
Fun for the Whole Family
Annually taking place in June, Beyond the Boardwalk features a variety of exciting and interactive programs, games and stories on ways adults and children can be responsible and get involved. This year's events include:

June 18: "Island of the Great White Shark"
Marjorie Lynn Bank Lecture Series (Advance registration required.) -
June 20: FREE Family Film- On the Pier!
7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Enjoy a FREE outdoor showing of SpongeBob Squarepants: The Movie. Plus, test your ocean health knowledge and win great prizes during the pre-show trivia contest hosted by WMAR-TV. Lawn chairs and blankets recommended. (The movie will begin at 9pm. Rated PG, 90 minutes.) Subject to weather cancellation. -
June 21 and 22: Festival on the Pier
10 a.m.- 3 p.m. -
- Learn ways to save our blue planet
- Investigate ocean artifacts
- Enjoy live music and face painting
- Purchase classic boardwalk treats
- Meet SpongeBob Squarepants, 10am-1pm

June 23-27: FREE Activities on the Pier
10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Participate in mock dolphin rescues and meet members of the Aquarium's Marine Animal Rescue Program. -
June 28: Ft. McHenry Field Day
Help make a difference! Join Aquarium volunteers in restoring habitat for wildlife, removing debris and maintaining the trails at Ft. McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore. Get involved.
Ocean health partners will be on-site with special activities to engage visitors on ways to protect our watershed and its inhabitants. Also on June 21, don't miss City Sand- a giant sand sculpture competition at Harborplace & The Gallery.
