Thanks to a generous donation of fuel and time from Pilot Edward Filangeri, the turtles were flown directly from Boston to Martin Airport in Middle River, Maryland.
The turtles are being treated for a variety of ailments associated with cold-stunning, including pneumonia and blood chemistry imbalances. We’re happy to report that the majority of our new patients are eating well.
Our team will be receiving (at least) 20 additional turtles for long-term rehabilitation over the next week or two. In total, more than 1,000 sea turtles have stranded along the Northeast coast in the last three weeks.
Stay tuned for more updates!
