We’re excited to share that our staff in Animal Planet Australia: Wild Extremes recently welcomed a baby Hosmer’s skink into the Aquarium family!

Welcomed in early July, this is the Aquarium's first Hosmer’s skink birth. These skinks are live bearers and can produce 1-4 babies at a time.

Our juvenile is currently behind-the-scenes and remain there until it grows large enough to go on exhibit!

Hosmer’s skinks are native to northern Australia, specifically the northern territory and Queensland. These skinks prefer to stay within the crevices and gaps between boulders. Their diet includes insects, leaves, shoots and berries.

Stay tuned for more updates on our new addition!
