Seahorses

Longsnout Seahorse

Undeniably, seahorse dads are some of the best out there. In many animal species, the mother takes on the primary childcare role; however, seahorse dads like to even the playing field a bit. Male seahorses have the unique role of carrying mom’s eggs in a pouch until they are born.

Great Horned Owl

Great horned owl dads certainly make for great family providers! After the birth of their babies, these fathers will hunt and gather food for their entire family. These owl dads are also extremely protective of their young, attacking animals and humans that come close to the nest.

Sticklebacks

These dads prepare for the birth of their offspring by creating a nest out of plant matter. Once mom lays the eggs, stickleback dads will protect them around the clock from predators and other threats. Even after the eggs hatch, these dads stay committed to their family and often take on the primary parental role.

Happy Father's Day!
