Natural wonders. Transforming experiences. A city renewed. A community connected to portals of unexplored aquatic wonders – eye-opening encounters that touch Maryland youth and families everyday.
For more than two decades, the Aquarium has been a symbol of urban renewal, an economic anchor for the region and a source of pride for Marylanders.
The vision for creating this world-class facility began with the citizens of Baltimore – our most loyal supporters. For this reason, our local commitment runs deep.
Our mission to inspire stewardship of the aquatic world comes to life everyday within our Aquarium walls and beyond…in Maryland schools, on the watersheds of the Chesapeake Bay and in local neighborhoods.
As a community partner, the Aquarium has hosted millions of Maryland students and teachers free of charge. More than 100 local youth dive into summer jobs, college internships, and scholarships while hundreds of local residents serve as volunteers to welcome, guide, and educate more than 1.6 million visitors annually.
Through education and action, the Aquarium addresses the challenges of protecting Earth’s aquatic treasures and mobilizes community volunteers in clean-up efforts to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay.
Our local residents are a top priority which is why we promise a quality family experience and guarantee free or discounted admission throughout the year. Our December Dollar Days have been a 20 year Baltimore tradition and our $5 admission on Fridays after 5 p.m. program brings in thousands of local residents between the months of September and March.
With hopes of creating a better world for our children, our ocean, our community, we hope you too are inspired to protect our most precious resource - water.
The Aquarium’s office of community affairs is here to serve you and welcomes your comments, ideas, and feedback. Contact Kathy Sher, Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs.
