Baltimore (July 17, 2007) - The National Aquarium in Baltimore keeps good company. It was named one of the Top Ten U.S. Aquariums for Kids in the August issue of PARENTS Magazine.
PARENTS Magazine, whose reach to 18 million parents makes it the single largest community of parents anywhere, surveyed aquariums nationwide, evaluating the number, creativity and educational aspect of each aquarium's interactive features. The magazine's experts also graded aquariums on the quality and kid-friendliness of their exhibits, services (like changing stations), staff and educators, special programs for groups and families and conservation efforts.
In the feature, which appears on newsstands now, the National Aquarium in Baltimore was noted as:
-
Among the top 10 U.S. Aquariums for kids
- Having a stand-out feature: daily interactive dolphin shows.
"We know that giving young people the chance to interact with animals and have hands-on experience with nature ignites learning and helps create lifelong connections to the natural world," says General Visitor Program Manager Lisa Lerner. "Our programs bring enriching experiences to millions of kids each year, and we are thrilled to be recognized by PARENTS."
Since inventing the parenting category decades ago, PARENTS has only grown in influence: they answer questions and concerns; voice the broadest array of authoritative opinions; advocate good causes affecting children and families; and help moms and dads celebrate the joys of parenthood. With award-winning editorial content available in every media format - including magazine, web site, podcast, video, cable, mobile and books - the PARENTS brand is trusted and relied on for information and inspiration by more than 18 million parents - the single largest community of parents anywhere.
The National Aquarium in Baltimore, a non-profit organization, is Baltimore's leading attraction, hosting more than 1.6 million visitors per year. The Aquarium's mission is to connect people with aquatic life in order to create a better world for both. It is dedicated to education and conservation through more than a dozen programs that serve the environment and the community.
