7/24/2007 - A 444-mile Kayaking Trip for Chesapeake Bay Watershed Conservation Awareness

Journey Completed on August 17, 2007. Welcome Home!

TrailTrekk: Paddle the Susquehanna

Two Aquarium senior directors and nine intrepid friends are getting ready to push off on a 444-mile kayaking trip through 3 states, over 15 dams inside of 2 weeks. The trip began in celebration of Cal Ripken's induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame (and kicks off in Cooperstown), and has evolved into a way to draw attention to Chesapeake Bay watershed conservation.

The Aquarium is proud to underwrite portions of their trip in support, and just for fun we're satellite tagging one of the kayaks and tracking their progress here. The kayakers will also call in with dispatches from the field which will be posted here at aqua.org. At the end on the journey, friends in Cal Ripken's camp plan to recognize them at Ripken Stadium!

Aquarium paddlers launched their kayaks on August 4th. Click here to view the satellite positions from the trip utilizing Google Maps, and read the blog entries from the team members.
