What Bright Colors

The poisonous kokoe frog's skin color is a bold warning, especially in these dark surroundings.

Most frogs are leafy green or muddy brown. Like many animals, their colors serve as camouflage that blend into their environments.

Some frogs, like poison dart frogs, are so brightly covered that they’re hard to miss. The bold colors lead predators to believe that they’re not good to eat – and it’s often true.

Many colorful frogs have especially toxic skins.
