The selected candidate will assist the Conservation Education staff in the creation, revision, and instruction of school programs, outreach programs, general visitor programs, member programs, and other education programs.
Essential Functions:
- Creation, revision, and instruction of both on-site and outreach programs, both classroom and/or auditorium style.
- Research and draft responses to information requests.
- Creation or revision of educational handouts such as "Ask the Aquarium" sheets.
- Assist with general visitor programming - staffing educational carts, presenting auditorium programs, presenting classroom programs, etc.
- Assist with school program preparation, including organizing, gathering, and repairing supplies.
- Assist with general visitor program preparations, including educational cart creation, upkeep, and/or revision.
- Participate in departmental special events such as sleepovers, teacher workshops, member's programs, etc.
- Assist with preparation for and instruction of summer camps (summer interns only).
- Administrative work (copying, organizing, collating, etc.) as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current college student majoring in biological science and/or education.
- Interest in informal education, public speaking, and customer service.
- Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.
