External Affairs Internship

Full Description

The selected candidate will serve as support staff for the External Affairs department, including the Government Relations staff. This individual should be creative, energetic, organized, and have a working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with planning and preparation for meet and greet functions and special tours
  • Assist with planning and attending special events, VIP tours, cultivation, etc.
  • Prepare various types of cultivation packets
  • Assist with VIP research and researches background information on key issues
  • Assists with hearing and briefing materials
  • Research and update mailing lists and data files
  • Provide correspondence with the local community about community programs and events 
  • Provide database management support including database entry
  • Assist with screening donation request 
  • Assist with drafting articles for newsletters 
  • Assist in designing gift packages for various events 
  • Assist with mass mailings.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be working toward a degree in any of the following:  public administration, journalism, English, sociology, marketing, public relations, political science, communications, urban development, business, or a related field.
  • Computer skills are necessary.
  • Creative skills and/or talents are welcomed.
  • Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.
