Full Description

Publications photo editing interns assist the Publications staff by editing, organizing, and archiving images.

Essential Functions

The selected photo editing intern will assist with the collecting, organizing, editing, and archiving of images for the Publications department's photo library.

  • Review photos for image quality as well as composition quality.
  • Adjust, crop, color-correct, and resize images as needed.
  • Assist with image searches from the Aquarium's internal collection as well as from stock photography resources.
  • Assist with organizing and key-wording images for the Publications department's photo library.
  • Respond to client requests, such as locating and resizing images, in a timely manner.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, mailings, etc.
  • Join the Communications team for meetings and special events.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Interns with their own camera/equipment may have the potential to photograph various Aquarium animals and events.

Requirements

  • Must have working knowledge of Photoshop CS2.
  • Must be able to operate within Microsoft Office systems.
  • Must be proficient with the Macintosh platform.
  • Must be self-motivated and have sharp attention to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.
  • A biological background is helpful, but not required.
  • Preference is given to juniors and seniors.
  • Open to undergraduate students pursuring a degree in photography, graphic design, or related field from an accredited college or university.
