Wash, DCMarketing Internship
Marketing interns support the Aquarium marketing team in its daily activities. The marketing intern will collaborate in the development of traffic-driving promotions, and is responsible for managing the successful communication and implementation of these promotions. The intern will also assist in the coordination of marketing department activities, including advertising, consumer relationship marketing, and market research; media sponsorship; exhibit and program launches; sponsorship fulfillment; and special projects as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Assist in developing a strategic plan for attendance-driving promotions
- Assist with sponsorship prospecting and partner fulfillment
- Assist in developing and implementing all marketing-based aspects of new exhibits/programs/special events
- Analyze promotional opportunities presented by local and regional media, and implement and monitor Aquarium participation
- Coordinate miscellaneous advertising efforts, including placement in local and regional publications
- Assist marketing manager with any advertising duties as needed
- Attend outreach events as an Aquarium representative.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college, pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, development, or a related field
- Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term; occasional weekends may be required.
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and PowerPoint preferred; basic computer skills required
- Are creative, energetic, organized, and possess strong verbal skills; are self-motivated, able to work independently, and take initiative on projects.
