August 22, 2004 - Hispanic Heritage Honored at Fun Fiesta

Baltimore (August 22, 2004) – The National Aquarium in Baltimore invites visitors to celebrate the rich and diverse Latino cultures at Hispanic Heritage Night on Friday, September 10, 2004. Guests can explore the enchanting exhibits of the Aquarium as well as experience:

  • Dance music by Grupo Latino Continenta
  • Mariachi Las Estrellas
  • MéxicoVivo performing traditional folkloric dances from México
  • Salsa lessons from Eileen Torres
  • Percussionist Nery Arevalo performing music rooted in the Latin and African traditions and telling interactive stories of the Mayans of the Central American Rain Forests
  • A bilingual underwater dive presentation
  • Games of aquatic lotería and conservation-themed face-painting for the kids
  • Amazing animals of the Rainforest with the Aquarium expert, Jack Cover
  • A special buffet of Latin foods

The Aquariums Conservation Education Department and Human Resources Team will be on-hand to talk with visitors about career and educational opportunities. The event will be part of the Friday after Five bargain—where admission is only $5 after 5 p.m.—and will be held from 5 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The last ticket will be sold at 8:00 p.m. Hispanic Heritage Night is presented by the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs.
