November 7, 2003 - Area Residents Receive Early Holiday Gift from Aquarium

Admission Only $1.00 Per Person for Entire Dollar Day Weekend

Baltimore, Md., November 7, 2003 – In the spirit of holiday giving, the National Aquarium in Baltimore again this year offers an exciting early gift to Maryland residents: an opportunity for a memorable visit amid the wonders of the sea. Aquarium admission will be only $1.00 per person on Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dollar Days gives visitors a final opportunity to witness the splendor and brilliancy of the Aquarium’s most popular exhibit, Seahorses: Beyond Imagination before it leaves for Italy in January.  This amazing exhibit should not be missed. Visitors can view 18 species of seahorses, which are nothing short of out-of-this-world—creatures like the Leafy Seadragon, with its leaf like fins and tabs, will have visitors mesmerized.

For just one dollar, everyone can enjoy a fascinating day exploring the Aquarium’s 10,500 animals in recreated habits.  They’ll encounter – safely, of course – menacing sharks just inches away; saunter through an exotic tropical rain forest; and discover dwarf caimans, and the red tailed catfish in the terrestrial and aquatic Amazon River Forest. Next, guests can venture to the Atlantic Coral Reef where they can enjoy a diver’s eye view of hundreds of brilliantly colored tropical fish.

AquaShop, the Aquarium’s gift shop, will be open for visitors in search of unique holiday gifts, including a table of Dollar Day bargains for just $1.00.

Family members of every age will be entertained – and educated – at the Aquarium. Kids might even catch a glimpse of Santa!  Dollar Days has been a tradition for local residents since the Aquarium opened in 1981.

Dollar Days are presented by Geico with support from Yellow Book USA and media partners Fox 45, WB 54 and Magic 95.9.

The National Aquarium in Baltimore, a non-profit organization and world-class aquatic institute, is Maryland’s leading attraction, hosting more than 1.6 million visitors per year.  Dedicated to education and conservation, it serves the environment, students, visitors and communities through a variety of programs.  For more information, call 410-576-3800 or visit www.aqua.org.
