If a picture is worth a thousand words, what does yours say? With 16,000 animals that call the Aquarium home, each experience surely has its own caption. Tell us yours.
The Aquarium's monthly photo contest gives you the opportunity to share your underwater adventure with us and thousands of Aquarium visitors. Were you lucky enough to capture a glimpse of the kookaburra perched in Animal Planet Australia: Wild Extremes, or snap a splashing dolphin soak a laughing audience? Share it with us! Did you photograph a nurse shark silently swimming or a blue poison dart frog hopping through the rain forest? Maybe it'll be a winner! Retell and relive your experience and discover the Aquarium in a new way.
Photos will be selected monthly and will be featured on aqua.org. Ready, set, go- grab your camera and have a splash!
Dive In!
- Before you get started, make sure you have a Yahoo! Account, or are a member of Yahoo's photo service, Flickr. Need to create an account? Sign up here. Or, if you already have an account, log in here.
- Join our group! Once your account is created, find the National Aquarium's group on Flickr.com and click "Join This Group."
- Submit your photo. You are a member, your photos are uploaded- now what? Click on the photo you wish to share and click "Send to Group." Remember to mark the photo as public and include your hometown and/or description about your experience. That's it!
- New themes = new photos! Remember to check back often for the contest topic and to fish through photos submitted by other Aquarium friends.
Rules
- Contest themes change monthly. Entry deadline is on the last day of each month.
- Aquarium staff and volunteers are excluded from this contest.
- National Aquarium reserves the right to publish and reprint submitted photographs that are entered within this contest.
- Winner will be contacted via e-mail and photo will be featured on aqua.org, the Aquarium's award-winning web site.
- Group members' e-mail addresses will not be used, shared, or sold for solicitation.
Photo Guidelines
- Photos can be of anything relating to the National Aquarium!
- Please submit a medium-sized image.
- Be sure share your photo in the Aquarium group pool as well as in the contest thread.
- Photos must adhere to Flickr.com guidelines and are at the discretion of the National Aquarium.
