Ocean Exploration Day

National Ocean Exploration Forum

Join us for a day of discovery in the field of ocean exploration. Our friends at Open ROV will be presenting an interactive update (and demonstration!) of technological advances, so come prepared with questions! We’ll also be hosting a show-and-tell from Florida State University’s Dr. Sandra Brooke all about recent deep-sea explorations off the coasts of Maryland and Virginia. Did you know that there are rare and spectacularly beautiful coral communities living in deep canyons off our shores? We’ll take a look at pictures and video of some of the discoveries made by Dr. Brooke and her colleagues and even see a sample of deep sea coral. Stick around for an activity led by the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation that will help you and your family learn to identify different forms of life endemic to coral reefs.
