World Oceans Day
Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8
10 am - 3 pm
Join us as we honor our amazing blue planet with an ocean-themed festival. World Oceans Day is an international event that is officially recognized on June 8, but the Aquarium will be celebrating all weekend with activities for the whole family.
Our weekend-long festival includes free activities outside on our Waterfront Plaza and in our pier-side tent. Activities taking place inside the building are included with regular Aquarium admission.
Party for the ocean! Enjoy a sustainable, harbor-side barbecue on the pier, featuring live music and cooking demos from our executive chef, Joseph Cotton. Local seafood, produce, bbq, and other food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Heavy Seas and Boordy Vineyards will be offering local beer and wine selections for those 21+.
Contribute to a community art project with Maryland Institute College of Art guest artist, Kasey Jones. Help to build an amazing sculpture of our famous giant green sea turtle, Calypso, using up-cycled items.
Visit Exploration Stations throughout the event to learn how you can help protect the ocean! Attend special World Oceans Day animal encounters, talks and presentations.
Engage with the National Aquarium Animal Rescue and Conservation teams, as well as with some of our local conservation partners.
Together we have the power to protect the ocean. Join us as we take action for a healthier planet and ocean by encouraging sustainable living.
Take the pledge and protect the planet during the #48daysofblue between Earth Day and World Oceans Day!
