World Oceans Day

There’s no better place to celebrate World Oceans Day than at the National Aquarium!

On Friday, June 8, reef conservationist John Halas, the first winner of Oceana's Oceans Heroes Award, will join National Aquarium CEO John Racanelli for a dive in two of our exhibits.

On Saturday and Sunday, join us from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. for lots of fun ocean-themed activities. Engage with our animals and staff of experts, complete our World Oceans Day scavenger hunt for a prize, and learn what you can do to keep our oceans healthy and full of amazing aquatic life! Plus, bring in plastic grocery bags to exchange for a reusable shopping tote.

On Sunday, Debbie Dadey, author of the Mermaid Tales book series, will be onsite. Join her at 11:30 and 2:30 for a reading and book signing.

Activities are free with admission.

World Oceans Day bag

What's even better than recycling your grocery bags? Refusing the store's bags and bringing your own! Plastic bags often blow away and end up in the ocean, where animals mistake them for food. This Saturday and Sunday, bring your plastic grocery bags to the Aquarium and exchange them for a World Oceans Day reusable shopping tote.

Offer valid on June 9 and 10, 2012, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. One bag per person, while supplies last.
