Visiting With Young Children?

Information for guests bringing babies and young children to the Aquarium:

Stroller Policy
The National Aquarium, Washington, DC, does allow strollers. The Aquarium also offers a full-service elevator for accessibility to all of our valued guests. While we are more than happy to accommodate strollers, please keep in mind that we do not have stroller parking onsite, so you will need to keep your stroller with you for the entirety of your visit.

Changing Tables
Bathrooms have changing tables, and there is a family restroom located just past Security, near the street entrance.

Tots and Tales
Bring your little fry (young fish are called fry!) to the National Aquarium, Washington, DC, every first and third Friday of the month at 10 a.m. to learn about our wonderful aquatic world. We will have story time, exciting science experiments, arts and crafts, and a tour of the Aquarium designed especially for toddlers!

Security Procedures

For the safety of our visitors and according to federal building regulations, all bags, backpacks, and packages are subject to inspection prior to entering the Aquarium. During peak seasons, holidays, and weekends, you may experience a brief wait to pass through security.

If you are planning on visiting us for a 2pm feeding, please allow some additional time to move through security prior to entering the Aquarium.

Re-entry does require additional screening. Please be aware, these entrance security procedures may result in slight delays while entering the Aquarium, as federal regulations require that all Department of Commerce visitors go through a screening process.

We ask for your patience, cooperation, and assistance in keeping the National Aquarium safe.
