Office assistants work on projects in departments all over the Aquarium, from Volunteer Services to Communications to Biological Programs.
Some day-to-day duties are like those in any office, but there are always surprises! Volunteers often:
- type
- assemble and manage data
- file
- manage computer projects
- and save the day with "other duties as assigned."
Requirements
Office staff have previous administrative or clerical experience. Computer knowledge is extremely helpful, but not necessary in some departments. Volunteers are:
- at least 18 years of age and out of high school
- attentive to detail
- able to manage routine office operations and work independently
- and enjoy working with people.
Training and Commitment
After successful completion of training classes and apprenticeships, office assistants must commit to working one 3 ½ hour shift every week for at least one year.
