Ways to Volunteer

There are numerous ways to volunteer.

Information Specialists welcome visitors and answer questions about the Aquarium and the Inner Harbor area. (We supply all the answers!)

Exhibit Guides talk with worldwide visitors; interpret the exhibits; teach why it’s necessary to protect and preserve planet earth’s resources.

Certified Divers do more than get their feet wet! They swim with the fish, feed hundreds of undersea animals, clean windows, scrub algae, and give presentations to visitors.

Office Assistants work in many departments, performing a variety of tasks. (Boredom is a word that just doesn’t apply.)

Behind-the-scenes assistants help aquarists (fish people), aviculturists (bird people), herpetologists (reptile people), and horticulturists (plant people) prepare food, maintain exhibits, and perform other duties. These jobs are limited. They are not for the squeamish or those who prefer to stay dry!

After completing one year’s service, volunteers have additional opportunities to work in conservation, marine animal rescue, and other special programs.
