UCAN Conference Information

The Urban Climate Action Network (UCAN) is a national urban climate change youth corps. This network empowers teens concerned about climate change in their communities, connecting with peers in other cities to discuss environmental, social, and economic challenges to ultimately create better places to live, work and play.

Conference Information

Dates: July 9, 2018 - July 13, 2018

The National Aquarium will provide shuttles to and from all destinations (airports, Loyola University, National Aquarium, etc).


Date Theme Description
Monday, July 10th Arrival Day Groups will convene at the National Aquarium to begin their week long UCAN experience. Teams will check-in with Aquarium staff and will have an opportunity to explore the Aquarium’s many exhibits. After settling in at Loyola University’s housing, groups will participate in team-building activities with all UCAN participants.
Tuesday, July 10th Climate Day Participants will learn about climate change and how it can affect communities. Solutions to climate change issues will also be discussed.

Wednesday, July 11th Planning Day Description Needed. ***MLB lecture series about coral reefs in the evening?
Thursday, July 12th Action Day Needed
Friday, July 13th Final Day Groups will meet at the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine park for a farewell kayaking experience. UCAN staff will say some closing remarks before groups depart to start their journey home. Time to say goodbye and start making a difference in our communities!
