This Thursday, January 26, the National Aquarium, Baltimore will be celebrating Australia Day with the Australian Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Kim Beazley. The Aquarium team will be leading the ambassador and a local visiting family through the Animal Planet Australia: Wild Extremes exhibit.

The Australia Ambassador to the United States Mr. Kim Beazley will be visiting on Thursday, Jan. 26 in observance of Australia Day. The ambassador will be accompanied by his wife and members of the DC Mission.

Thursday, January 26 – 11 a.m.
11:00 a.m. – Arrival; greeted by National Aquarium’s CEO John Racanelli, Deputy Executive Director For Biological Programs Dr. Brent Whitaker and Curator of Australian Exhibits John Seyjagat.
11:15 a.m. - Tour of the Animal Planet Australia: Wild Extremes with Curator of Australian Exhibits.
Meet and greet with exhibition staff, visitors and local family.
Meet and greet with the National Aquarium’s “ambassadors” to Australia – fresh water crocodile, blue tongue skink, Gallah Cockatoo, Kookaburra, Twany Frogmouth and olive python.
11:45 a.m. – Australian Ambassador delivers brief remarks (5-10min) on Australia Day, the Aquarium’s unique Australia exhibit and the partnership
12:00 p.m. - Sustainable seafood lunch featuring seafood from Maryland waters; the snakehead and blue catfish are wild caught from the Potomac River and are invasive to our ecosystem. Lunch will be with CEO John Racanelli, Dr. Brent Whitaker, and John Seyjagat.
In addition, on Saturday, January 28, the National Aquarium will host an Australia Day Celebration where guests can transport themselves down under with Australian animal encounters, an aboriginal didgeridoo player, rock painting, and much more!
