National Aquarium Celebrates Organizational Excellence

The National Aquarium is pleased to announce two recent award honors – being named one of Baltimore magazine’s “Best Places to Work” and the recognition of CEO John Racanelli as one of the The Daily Record’s “Influential Marylanders.”

The Aquarium is one of 30 area companies selected by Baltimore magazine for its 2015 “Best Places to Work” issue. Winners were chosen based on criteria such as benefits, office culture, financial health and dynamic leadership. Baltimore magazine specifically recognized National Aquarium as a company that “puts its money where its mission is” as employees are allowed an extra paid day to participate in conservation activities independent of the many already sponsored by the nonprofit.

Additionally, CEO John Racanelli was tapped as an “Influential Marylander” by The Daily Record, a recognition that honors individuals who have significantly contributed to Maryland’s business community by bringing services and success into the region. Racanelli was selected by The Daily Record’s editors in the general business category for continuing to pursue the aquarium’s non-profit mission to drive conservation action and ensure its success through several education programs, outreach activities, social media campaigns and conservation initiatives.
