National Aquarium to Release Rehabbed Seal, “Megatron”

On Wednesday, May 11, Megatron, a juvenile harbor seal, will be released back to his natural habitat. The young seal was rescued in February 2016 from Bethany Beach in Delaware and brought to the National Aquarium where the organization’s Animal Rescue Team treated him for dehydration, emaciation and skin lesions. Since being admitted, Megatron has gained 21 lbs and has grown 15 cm in length.

The National Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team is responsible for responding to stranded marine mammals and sea turtles along the nearly 4,360 miles of Maryland coast.
