Atlantic White Cedar Tree Planting
Saturday, March 28, 2020, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join the National Aquarium's Conservation team in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the Chesapeake Bay Trust to plant Atlantic white cedar trees, a vulnerable species in the state of Maryland, and help perform necessary site maintenance in Nassawango Creek Preserve. This 15-square-mile preserve located in Snow Hill is comprised of wetland and upland habitat and is home to 60 species of migratory birds and a number of rare plant species.
This planting is part of an ongoing restoration effort through the Aquarium's Atlantic white cedar program, which encourages students in Worcester County to become environmental stewards through hands-on opportunities to care for trees in a nursery pond on their school grounds.
Preregistration is required for this event. Volunteer space is limited, and registration will close when the event is full. Participants must be at least 10 years old. All volunteers under 18 must be supervised by an adult. This event is scheduled to conclude by 2 pm, but please arrive early since our work may wrap up quickly.
