After stranding on Bethany Beach in Delaware last week, a juvenile harbor seal was rescued and transported to the MERR Institute and later transferred to the National Aquarium for long-term rehabilitation.
Our Animal Rescue and Animal Health teams are currently treating Megatron for dehydration, emaciation and skin lesions consistent with seal pox.
We’re happy to report that our seal patient is responding well to his fluid therapy and antibiotics! In fact, he began eating on his own earlier this week and continues to enjoy a hefty diet of capelin, herring and mullet.
